Refugee Programme

Northumberland County Council’s Refugee and Migration Team, based within the Housing Support Service, provides housing advice and integration support to refugees arriving through government-approved resettlement schemes.

Once initial settlement needs are met, Resettlement Officers work in partnership with Northumberland Skills to promote independence and integration. This includes access to ESOL and other courses and, where appropriate, referral to the services Refugee Employment Support Worker to help you access opportunities to upskill and move towards employment.

If you live in Northumberland and would like support, please speak to your Resettlement Officer, who can refer you to the service.

Not sure of your next steps?

Check out our range of employability programmes below, or get in touch with a member of the team if you have any questions.
